How To Use Kanze

Cashflow Page

Track monthly income and expenses, savings, and emergency fund runway.

Updated: 2026-03-14

The Cashflow page helps you see how much comes in, how much goes out, and how much you save each month. It also shows your emergency fund runway and savings rate.

Where to Find It

Open Cashflow from the sidebar (/dashboard/financials).

What You Track

Income (three categories):

  • Active โ€” e.g. salary, freelance.
  • Passive โ€” e.g. rent, dividends.
  • Windfall โ€” e.g. bonuses, one-off gains.

Expenses (two categories):

  • Fixed โ€” e.g. rent, subscriptions, loan repayments.
  • Variable โ€” e.g. food, travel, shopping.

You enter totals per month and can add line items (individual income or expense entries) for detail.

Metrics Shown

  • Total income โ€” sum of active, passive, and windfall.
  • Total expenses โ€” sum of fixed and variable.
  • Savings โ€” income minus expenses.
  • Savings rate โ€” savings รท income (as a percentage), when income is greater than zero.
  • Emergency fund runway โ€” how many months your liquid assets can cover your fixed expenses (liquid assets รท fixed expenses). Keep fixed expenses up to date for a meaningful number.

Chart

A bar chart compares income vs expenses by month. You can switch the displayed month when the page supports it.

Adding and Editing Data

  • Use the form to enter or change monthly totals for each income and expense category.
  • Add or edit line items for that month if the page supports it. Data is stored per month.

Tip

Fixed expenses are used to calculate runway. Update them regularly so your runway reflects your real situation.
